Hearing Aid Evaluation and Policies

If you are considering hearing amplification, it may be helpful for you to understand our policies and proceduresEach step of the process is geared towards making you feel comfortable. We understand that even the process of discussing hearing aids may be overwhelming at first. That’s what we are here for…to help you every step of the way.

The Evaluation:

On your initial visit, we begin with a complimentary comprehensive hearing evaluation and consultation. This includes talking with you about your personal communication difficulties, testing your hearing sensitivity, inspecting your ear canals for wax impaction, and explaining the various types of hearing aids available.

Based on this information, we determine  which type of hearing instrument(s) will best meet your needs. During this decision making process, you participate with an audiologist to help choose the most appropriate hearing aid(s) for you. The different styles/sizes of hearing aids and the levels of technology are discussed and together you and the audiologist decide which hearing aid(s) you will try.

The Hearing Aid Fitting and Orientation:

On your second visit, you are fit with your new hearing aid(s). We will teach you all about your new hearing aid(s), discuss how to insert and remove them, and demonstrate long-term care and maintenance of the aid(s). Once you receive your hearing aid(s), you then begin your 30-day trial period. You are asked to pay a deposit at the time of your fitting which is fully refundable should you decided at the end of the trial period to not keep the aid(s).

The Trial Period:

With each new hearing aid purchased, you receive a no-risk 30-day trial period. During this time, an audiologist will work with you to determine if any adjustments need to be made. Usually, you will want to return to the office for follow-up visits in 1 to 2 weeks to discuss your progress and ask any questions that have arisen. All follow-up visits are included in the cost of your hearing aid(s) and you are encouraged to return to our office as many times as needed to become comfortable with your hearing instrument(s). We want to be 100% sure that you are completely satisfied with your new hearing aid(s).
